Edith Wharton (Jan 24, 1862 – Aug 11, 1937) was an American novelist and short story writer, her most known works are The House of Mirth and The Age of Innocence. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature on multiple occasions. Wharton first attempted to write at the age of six. Major themes of her works came from her family relationship. Xingu is focused on Mrs. Ballinger, a very social woman, who had organized Lunch Club – a society for her and her friends, “hunting for erudition”. Clubs routine was compromised, when a famous author, Osric Dane, agreed to take part in the next meeting, one of the club members is not looking forward to seeing Dane, thus ruinning potentially perfect meeting. What would Mrs. Ballinger do to fix such an inconvenience? Read and find out!
