William Ralston Shedden-Ralston (1828–1889), was a noted British scholar and translator of Russia and Russian. He devoted himself to Russian studies, and published: ‘Kriloff and his Fables’ (1869); ‘Liza’ (1869); ‘Songs of the Russian People’ (1872); ‘Russian Folk-Tales’ (1873); and ‘Early History of Russia’ (1874). Wednesday is a short story included in "Russian Fairy Tales, A Choice Collection of Muscovite Folk-lore" William Ralston. It is an old Russian fairy tale about a young housewife. After a long day, full of work and labour, she laid down to bed. But she was too tired and had so much work left to do that she had forgotten to cross herself. And that was just enough to let a misadventure happen.
