Robert Louis Stevenson, was a Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer, and a leading representative of Neo-romanticism in English literature. «Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes» is one of Robert Louis Stevenson's earliest published works which is considered by many critics a foundation of classic outdoor literature. The story which wrote Stevenson takes place when he was 20 years old and was still dependent on his parents. He started his journey in order to provide materials for publication and also to get away from love affair with an American woman. As he said himself for his journey: « I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake».
