Tomas Hardy was an English writer, known as an author of naturalism movement. It's no coincidence that it is the peasants who became the main protagonists of his literary works. Depicting the tragic fate of his characters, Hardy finds out the social base of psychological conflicts in Victorian England, and criticizes those beliefs, especially relating to marriage, education and religion. “Life's Little Ironies” is a collection of nine tales, first published in 1894. Like other Hardy’s collection, this one displays the social and cultural attitudes of people. Through short stories, author explores the human’s reactions and difficulties in the relationships between men and women, as well as exposes the inconsistencies of the Victorian society.
