Every nation in the world has its own folklore heritage — legends, myths, fairy-tales. In such stories the wisdom of every nation is collected and embodied, although some of the nations have similar tales, especially those who are neighbors. Legend and myths employ elements of supernatural origin: magic, gods, wonderful creatures. Tales are stories that are supposed to teach the coming generations by depicting various situations and various types of behavior demonstrated by the heroes.
“The White Maiden” is a short legend taken from a German folklore about young and handsome noble who was fond of traveling along his native land. During one of such trips he closed to an unknown castle where he met a beautiful maiden. She was clad in white from head to foot, her hair was flaxen, her skin was like a lily, and she had such loving eyes that they at once won the heart of the young noble.
