Andrew Lang (31 March 1844 – 20 July 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist,literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. Andrew was born in Selkirk. The writer's family was big, he was eldest of eight children. Andrew's mother named Jane Plenderleath Sellar, who was the daughter of Patrick Sellar, factor to the first duke of Sutherland and lawyer. Andrew Lang helped Henry Rider Haggard publish his novel “King Solomon’s Mines”, and wrote with him some writings. Thanks to diversity of interests he has been recognized from Jorge Luis Borges.
