Charles M. Skinner: The Pale Faced Lightning

Language:
English
Genres:
Fiction & Literature, Mysteries & Thrillers

Charles Montgomery Skinner was an American writer, editor, dramatic and art critic, mostly known as a collector and rewriter of North American folklore. He published collections of myths, legends, histories and oral narrative found inside the United States and across the world. The writer’s task Skinner identified in saving the folk traditions endangered by the age of America’s progress. There are many legends about the mount Superstition standing in the capital of Arizona. Two centuries ago a tribe of Pueblo dwarfs arrived near it and tilled the soil and tended their flocks about the settlements. They were little people, four feet high, but they were a thousand strong and clever. They were peaceful, like all intelligent people, and the mystery surrounding their incantations and sun-worship was more potent than a show of arms to frighten away those natural assassins, the Apaches. This story is about them and this place. Start your familiar with American history and culture through the Skinner’ collection “Myth and legends of our own land”!
