Thomas Crane was an American scholar and writer, mostly known as a collector and publisher of folk-tales and legends. A master of many languages, Crane translated French, Italian and Spanish works, having become one of the most popular adapters of children’s fairy tales. «The Fairy Orlanda» is short fairy tale about a merchant who was destined to go away for searching a doll as large as his wife. She gave him a ring and warned that if he didn't find or forget her this ring would turn red and his steamer will not move. But so happened he really forgot his little doll and didn't know where.
