Jules Verne: The English at the North Pole

Language:
English
Genres:
Fiction & Literature, Travel & Adventure, Novel

Jules Gabriel Verne was a French novelist, poet and playwright best known for his adventure novels and his profound influence on the literary genre of science fiction. Verne is generally considered a major literary author in France and most of Europe, where he has had a wide influence on the literary avant-garde and on surrealism. His reputation is markedly different in Anglophone regions, where he has often been labeled a writer of genre fiction or children's books, not least because of the highly abridged and altered translations in which his novels are often reprinted.

The plot of the novel started in English town Liverpool. In the port was a ship called "Forward”, which, according to rumors, would go to a distant expedition to the north. But the "Forward" attracted people's attention because it was not known who his captain. The story was started with the fact that a sailor Shandon received a letter from an unknown man "K. Z.," in which he was invited to take part in an expedition to the North Pole. Shandon received all the necessary tools and began to build the ship. He made this ship particularly strong and supplied it with food for six years… What adventures did the sailorman face? Read the story to know it!
