Earl Derr Biggers (Aug 26, 1884 – Apr 5, 1933) was an American author of plays and novels. Some of his writing, both theatrical and detective, had movie adaptations. He also worked as a journalist for The Plain Dealer prior to his fiction writing career. His most notable work is a series of detective novels featuring Officer Charlie Chan, an American with Chinese roots and a real-life prototype. Seven Keys to Baldpate is a detective novel by Earl Derr Biggers. The story follows a renowned writer, who comes to a mountain resort in the middle of winter. There he sought for solitude and inspiration, for he lacked both for a while and could not finish his book. He fails to fond solitude, for an unexpected flow of noisy customers arrived at the resort. But yet they have brought him all the inspiration he so desired, because stories, lies and crimes arrived with them.
