John Francis Campbell was a Scottish author, mostly known as a collector of folklore. “Osgar, the son of Oisein” is a Scottish fairy tale and a part of the “Popular Tales of the West Highlands” collection. Osgar is a sixteen-year-old boy, who attends school. He likes to play shinny on the school-yard with other boys, but Osgar is not an ordinary boy: he is exceedingly big, and in school there is no boy as big as he is. One day, playing shinny, children see a boat with a man coming. They never saw a man equal to him: he has the eyes with blue-green scales of hardening upon him. This strange meeting will have unexpected consequences for Osgar. Start your acquaintance with the Scottish culture with the “Popular Tales of the West Highlands” collection! Enjoy the reading!
