Harriet Mann Miller (1831–1918) was a naturalist, ornithologist and children's writer, who sometimes wrote under the pseudonym Olive Thorne Miller. She wrote hundreds of stories and articles for children, most of her stories are typically sentimental tales that over time showed an increasingly Dickensian interest in the forlorn. Under the name Harriet M. Miller she also published a number of nature sketches that are distinguished by their factuality and sprightly manner.
