James Otis Kaler (Mar 19, 1848 — Dec 11, 1912), known under pen name James Otis, was an American journalist and author of children’s literature, published over the 150 books for young readers. In 1880 he wrote his first, and still most famous children’s book, "Toby Tyler, or Ten Weeks with a Circus", a story about an orphan who runs away to join the circus. The adventure, patriotic biographies and historical books that had great appeal for boy readers, were intended for classroom use and became the classic of children's education literature.
"Sarah Dillard's Ride" is adventure story written for girls by the American journalist James Otis. But despite that fact, the story depicts a very old conflict between Native Americans, who lived in a perfect harmony with the world around them, and those who invaded their lands. This defiance had many episodes, such as a story of Carolinas, the one witnessed by Sarah Dillard, a young British girl. So saddle up and join Sarah Ride across this beautiful and dangerous country.
