Harry Max Harrison was an American editor and science fiction writer, famous mostly for his novel Make Room! Make Room! First started in science fiction field as an illustrator for EC Comics, Harrison then ghostwrote the series of novels Vendetta for the Saint. Rock Diver, the first short story under his own name, was published in Worlds Beyond magazine in 1951. Harrison enjoyed a great success after writing his Stainless Steel Rat series and his novel Bill, the Galactic Hero. In 2004 the writer was inducted by the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. First published in Astounding magazine in 1960, The Misplaced Battleship is a short story, later incorporated into the first novel of the Stainless Steel Rat series.
