Alice Caldwell Hegan Rice was an American author. She was also an American novelist and short-story writer most widely known for her Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. This book was often translated, staged and filmed. Alice Caldwell Hegan Rice was born in 1870 in the successful art dealer's family. Rice wrote many other novels noted for pathos and humour. Rise was married to poet and dramatist Young Rice. The Inky Way, which was appeared in 1940. “Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch” is a story about a woman, who has plentiful hardship, but in spite of it she remains an optimistic person and she always tries to look on the things brightly.
